On Living Above Reproach
Romans 14:14 – 23
Reproach: blame, discredit, disgrace
4 Principals on Living Above Reproach from Paul:
#1) Don’t destroy your brother or sister in Christ by what you do
Romans 14:14-15 If Christ was willing to die for us, shouldn’t we be willing to refrain from doing something that would hurt others in their Christian walk?
THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK OR ACT
#2) Don’t let anything you do be spoken of as evil
Romans 14:15 Just because you have liberty doesn’t mean you can do whatever you feel is right. Be concerned with what others think.
LIBERTY IS NOT LICENSE
#3) Don’t do anything that would make your brother or sister stumble
Romans 14:21 Don’t be so focused on what you want that you don’t consider others around you.
THINK OF OTHERS FIRST
#4) The faith that you have, have as your own conviction before God
Romans 14:22 Ask yourself the question, “Will it be right for me to do this?” This is between you and God not other people. Live your life to please God first.
LIVE TO PLEASE GOD
