It’s time to stop comparing yourself to others.
Here are 5 ways to STOP doing this:
#1) Recognize that comparing yourself to others is just a Bad Habit.
It’s so easy to fall into this trap, and once you’re in it, it’s hard to get out of it. As it becomes a habit, it’s harder and harder to break. When you break a habit, go straight at it: break the patter, get some help, set some goals. Just Stop!
#2) Recognize that everyone is different, we all have Strengths and Weaknesses.
Sometimes we just look at the good in others, and we ignore the truth that everyone has flaws. We have all been created differently. Embrace that. Realize that in our difference comes strength and uniqueness.
#3) Recognize that you may need some Healing.
In the comparison game, sometimes this is driven from some hurt, from a tough situation, or from the way others treated us growing up. In order to move on, you may need to forgive some people, and you may need some help in finding that healing.
#4) Recognize that as an individual, you need some Courage.
When we compare ourselves to others, it paralyzes us. Find some courage to get beyond that. Take some baby steps. Set some small goals. Courage grows as we build confidence and as we experience success. Let the courage build!
#5) Recognize that you can make some Changes.
In your comparison, you may identify some things in yourself that you just don’t like. Make some changes. Address these areas in your life. Become the person You want to be, not the person you want to Look like. You’re never to old to change some things that need to be changed.
Don’t waste your time, energy and passion living in the shadow of others. You are special. You have value. You have been created a unique individual with worth. Don’t forget that!
