Remember this saying when computers first came out? We then began to use it for our brains as well.
I cut this little chart out of the paper. It shows the best-selling books in the last 50 years. It shows that the Bible outsold Chairman Mao’s book four to one, and Harry Potter Books almost ten to one.
According to this chart, the Bible is really doing well. People seem to be buying it, but I wonder if they are reading it? Are you?
If you are like me, you have several Bibles, even different translations. Many of them are marked up with favorite passages and notes in the white spaces. But do I read it?
As leaders, we are in the Word a lot. We have messages to prepare, we have verses to look up, we have outlines to teach. But, do we read it?
David, one of the greatest leaders, hand-picked by God, said a lot about our Bible that we need to remember and think about in our leadership. You can read it in Psalm 119:
Verse 11: “I have hidden your Word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Want to keep your leadership filled with honesty, integrity and humility? Read your Bible!
Verse 24: “Your statues are my delight; they are my counselors.” Wand good advice in every area? Read your Bible!
Verse 28: “My soul is weary with sorry; strengthen me according to your Word.” Feeling wiped out? Read your Bible!
Verse 65 – 66: “Do good to your servant according to your Word, O Lord. Teach me knowledge and good judgment.” Want to make good leadership decisions? Read your Bible!
Verse 105: “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” Want direction for your leadership? Read your Bible!
It worked for David, it will work for us. You can take it from here.
Leaders: Read Your Bible!
