I came across this quote from John Maxwell:
“A man must be big enough to admit his mistakes, smart enough to profit from them, and strong enough to correct them.”
I was challenged by these words as I recently spent some time evaluating 2013 and looking ahead to this new year. How can I possibly do this? I want to be this kind of leader, but this is tough. I’ve been working on creating a list of how to do this that would be easy for anyone to apply, however I quickly realized that you can’t simplify WISDOM.
Wisdom is defined as: The quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement.
Wisdom comes over time.
We learn, as Maxwell shares, to correct our mistakes and to learn from them.
Then I read this verse in James 1, verse 5:
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without approach, and it will be given him.” (ESV)
This is the tip today: Ask God for wisdom, and He’ll give it to you. This is where wisdom comes from.
You don’t have to wait to make every mistake and then learn from it. Ask God for wisdom now, and be a better LEADER and a better FOLLOWER.
