One more on Tebow

That was a great blog that Russ wrote about the American football player, Tim Tebow.

Right after I read his blog, I heard this story. It’s about Tim’s influence on others and I thought of you as we have been talking about our influence in mentoring others.

“Tim Tebow, the Christ follower who is presently the sensational quarterback of the Denver Broncos, was asked by his coach to address the team on Saturday night before the Sunday game.  He shared one passage of scripture with his teammates:”

Proverbs 27:17  “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”

“His challenge was for the men on the team to each raise the level of their game and encourage one another to do the same. The following day the Broncos won in overtime.”

What fascinates me this week is the visibility that God’s Word is getting all over secular media.  Everyone from ESPN to Sports Illustrated to CBS Sports to ABC News to the Christian media is talking about “as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”

Let me encourage you before the week is over and this becomes old news to reach out to someone at work, in your neighborhood, at church or in your extended family and recognize the influence you can have in their life.

Remember, you are a leader in some way to a lot of other people!

1.  Set a positive example for them in action, attitude and response.

2. Encourage them, verbally and with your help, to do and to be better.

3. Help them anyway you can to fulfill their vision and passion in building His kingdom.
